Jika minyak dibuat dari buah, maka pakan ternak terbuat dari pelepah.

Simak, begini cara mengelola pelepah sawit sehingga berubah menjadi pakan:

Pertama: Siapkan pelepah yang bisa dipakai sebagai bahan dasar pakan. Sebisa mungkin ambil pelepah kepala sawit yang masih segar dan bagus. Bukan pelepah yang usang dan sudah sangat lusuh.

Ke-2, perlu diperhatikan pelepah yang anda ambil dari pohon kelapa sawit harus dikupas terlebih dahulu. Pengupasan bisa dilakukan dengan cara manual namun akan memakan waktu yang cukup lama. Jika pengupasan ingin berjalan lebih cepat, silahkan pelepah sawit dicacah menggunakan mesin.

Ke-3, setelah proses pencacahan selesai. Silahkan campur cacahan pelepah sawit dengan larutan tetes tebu. Larutan tetes tebu ini bisa didapatkan di toko penjual obat pertanian atau juga dibeli secara online. Atau bisa juga diganti dengan bekatul atau bungkil sawit ataupun dedak. Dimana bungkil sawit maupun dedak memiliki kandungan protein tinggi.

Ke-4, sediakan larutan tambahan berupa larutan urea. Kemudian larutan urea ini silahkan campur dan aduk merata ke cacahan pelepah sawit yang sudah disiapkan.

Ke-5, siapkan wadah besar seperti tong atau drum untuk menampung seluruh adonan yang telah disatukan.

Ke-6, masukan seluruh adonan cacahan pelepah sawit yang telah dicampur merata tersebut ke dalam drum. Usahakan adonan cacahan di dalam drum rapat dan padat.

Ke-7, setelah seluruh adonan dimasukkan secara merata, silahkan tutup permukaan drum sampai tidak ada celah oksigen masuk. Proses ini untuk melakukan fermentasi pada adonan pakan.

Ke-8 Kemudian simpan drum pada tempat dengan suhu stabil, yaitu tidak terlalu panas maupun tidak terlalu dingin.

Proses fermentasi adonan akan berlangsung selama 14 hingga 21 hari. Selama proses tersebut biarkan dan jangan membuka tutup drum.

Setelah fermentasi selesai, adonan pelepah sawit sudah siap diberikan kepada hewan ternak sebagai pakan yang kaya vitamin sebagai pakan dasar.

Adapun ciri-ciri proses pembuatan pakan berjalan sukses, yaitu warna hijau berubah menjadi berwarna kekuningan.

Teksturnya menjadi lembut, bahkan jika digenggam tidak berair dan juga tidak memiliki bau. Selain itu akan beraroma wangi dan tidak berjamur.
